Soldotna Alaska is located at the junction of the Sterling Highway and the Kenai Spur Highway. It is considered to be the “heart” of the Kenai Peninsula. People are continually drawn to Soldotna due to the huge amount of diverse resources available. And it had become the central administrative place for the Central Peninsula. It has the Central Peninsula Hospital, Kenai Peninsula College, Alaska State Trooper Headquarters, Kenai National Wildlife Refuge and the administrative headquarters for the Kenai Peninsula Borough. The Kenai river runs through the town and offers some of the best salmon and trout fishing ever.
The peninsula’s economy remains very strong. The timber industry has a fully automated lumber mill located on the eastern part of the peninsula and a chipping operation on the southern part.
