Best Places to Work for in VA

According to the latest surveys, Virginia is one of the glowing states when it comes to the unemployment rates. With a statewide ratio of 4.9%, Virginia is way under the nationwide rate of 6.7%. Furthermore, the rate goes down with around 0.1% per month. Over the last year, the rate went from 5.6% to 4.9%. With all these, there are still more than 200,000 unemployed individuals around the state, so the workforce still lacks job opportunities. On a positive note, up to 2,500 people get employed month by month.

The medical domain brings in a lot of opportunities for both young graduates and older individuals. There are about 2,000 job openings for registered nurses on a yearly basis. The annual salary is around $47,000. On the other hand, elementary and high school teachers have similar job openings, while their yearly average wages are slightly lower. Engineers are in high demand though, whether it comes to computer software developers, network managers and other similar positions. They make about $65,000 a year. All these jobs require a professional degree though. If you do not have a degree, being a truck driver will bring in more than $30,000 a year.

The state is currently the biggest employer in Virginia, but private corporations are just as impressive. Some of them operate all across the state or country, not to mention about several names with international operations. Advance Auto Parts Inc. and General Dynamics Corporation are just some of the front running private companies, as the list is a lot longer.
